Mr Daniel Ng Yat-chiu

Dr. Daniel Yat Chiu Ng is a director of The Octavian Society Limited in Hong Kong. The Octavian Society is a private collection of music manuscripts of Richard Strauss and the music library of Paul Wittgenstein and carries out archival, editing and scholarly work on these materials.

A native of Hong Kong, Dr. Ng graduated from the University of Illinois and holds a doctorate degree in chemical engineering from the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London.

Between 1965 and 1972, Dr. Ng worked in Chicago, Illinois, at the Institute of Gas Technology, a subdivision of the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he managed projects on environmental protection and energy systems. He returned to Hong Kong in 1972. Dr. Ng was the joint Managing Director of Inter-Asia Management Co. Ltd., a venture capital company based in Hong Kong.

In 1975, Dr. Ng founded the first McDonald's restaurant in Hong Kong where he was the managing director until 1995. He is currently Honorary Chairman of Ronald McDonald House Charities in Hong Kong.

Dr. Ng is a board member of AFS Intercultural Programs of Hong Kong, a board member of the Silk Road Project, Inc., a member of the Executive Committee of the Hong Kong Arts Festival and a member of the Board of Governors of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.
