The Hong Kong Philharmonic’s young Assistant Conductor
Perry So has quickly won a place in the hearts of music-lovers
with his vigorous conducting, informative and entertaining
education concerts and lively pre-concert talks. In handing
him the score of Brahms’s Second Symphony, Edo de Waart
offers Perry his biggest musical challenge yet – one of the
repertoire’s towering masterpieces. Beijing-born cellist Zhao
Jing is a graduate of the Karajan Academy in Berlin and won
1st Prize in the ARD International Music Competition in
Munich in 2005. In Saint-Saëns’s impassioned concerto, sparks
fly between cello and orchestra in an energetic exchange of
musical invention. |
