Steven Isserlis’s many acclaimed recordings have recently won Gramophone Instrumental CD of the Year, BBC Radio 3’s Listener’s Choice of the Year and Critic’s Choice at the 2008 Classical Brits. Sally Beamish’s delicate and convincing orchestration of Debussy’s Suite transforms it into a charming concerto. French conductor Yan Pascal Tortelier brings completely stylistic mastery to Berlioz’s vivid depiction of Shakespeare and Ravel’s extravagant and increasingly frenetic waltz.
