 Leaflet

Two reasons for celebration in one concert: we salute National Day, and toast the arrival of new Music Director Jaap van Zweden. To begin his tenure he has chosen two young, dynamic musicians – violinist Ning Feng, whose HK Phil début was rapturously received in 2011, returns with the iconic Butterfly Lovers Concerto. Conrad Tao is making his name both as a piano virtuoso and a composer. He appears as pianist later this year – by invitation, he has composed a fanfare work for these concerts. Completing the programme, Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. The van Zweden era begins.
