A New Vision Arts Festival programme
With his profound interpretations of the classics of the cello repertoire,
Yo-Yo Ma’s reputation as one of the greatest performers of our time
has been complemented by his all-embracing curiosity, seeking out new
music and musical collaborators to explore and expand the repertoire
for his instrument. Argentinean composer Osvaldo Golijov wrote his
cello concerto Azul specially for Ma and the Boston Symphony in 2006
and incorporated accordion and percussion parts to highlight the Latin
flavour of his music. Singapore Symphony Music Director Lan Shui
conducts Spanish-accented music by composers from Mexico, France
and Argentina. |
