Seven Musical Steps to Wonderful Music for
Your Students With a new start to the academic year, we’re delighted
to announce details of our acclaimed education programme for 2011/12. We hope
you’ll join us and share the benefits of orchestral music with your students.
For the coming school year we will be offering even more through our programme –
tailored materials to match your classroom activities, focused teacher support
materials and more chances to experience and learn about great music. Take these
easy steps with the HKPO and your pupils!
Step 1 HSBC Insurance Creative Notes 2011/12 Schools
Concerts The HKPO’s schools concerts are where many thousands of
Hong Kong children have ‘met’ their orchestra. This year the HKPO continues to
stimulate your students with the experience of fully symphonic music, and
Creative Notes 2011/12 schools concerts are still FREE!
NEW Hour-long concerts focusing on
the aims of a specific key stage of learning. NEW
Introduction of musical concepts matching schools syllabi
guidelines. NEW New-look, free teaching
and learning materials.
Step 2 Teachers’ Seminars The
highly successful Teachers’ Seminars will be offered again for the coming year.
Presented by Dr. Annie Mok, Lecturer, and Ms. Zerlina Wong, Instructor, from our
Education Partner, The Hong Kong Institute of Education, the seminars will offer
insights into orchestral concerts and their integration into your classroom
activity. Seminar dates and times this year are as follows:
Kindergarten 1 – Primary 3: Friday, 25 November 2011, 5:00pm – 6:30pm
Primary 4 – Secondary 3: Friday, 16 December 2011, 5:00pm –
6:30pm
Secondary 4 - International Baccalaureate: to be announced later
Step 3 Swire New Generation
Concerts The perfect introduction to the orchestra in public
performance - the next step for your students who have attended Creative Notes
2011/12 concerts. Four concerts across the year give a unique opportunity to
experience the full breadth of orchestral music. Each programme features a young
and emerging international soloist.
NEW
Extra special discounts on group
bookings. NEW Teachers’ kits with
information and classroom preparation exercises for each
concert. NEW Integrated materials which
match key musical concepts to each Swire New Generation concert.
Step 4 HSBC Insurance Creative Notes 2011/12
Ensemble Visits Every year, the HKPO ensemble visits reach nearly
18,000 students. Share the experience with your students! A small ensemble can
visit your school, bringing a 60-minute concert and the chance to get to know
the musicians of the orchestra. The visits will take place from March to May
2012. Express your interest using the booking form! Due to the popularity of the
visits, please book early to avoid disappointment.
NEW
Ensemble fact-sheets with suggested classroom introductory
notes and activities for your forthcoming ensemble visits.
Step 5 Instrumental Masterclasses
Members
of the HKPO will work with participating students in masterclasses across March
2011. It’s a great opportunity for gifted instrumentalists to work on their
playing under the guidance of a professional player. Click here for application form. Registration deadline is on Friday, 17 February 2012.
Step 6 Brand NEW! Mainstage for Your Concert
Experience Mainstage is our new learning enhancement scheme, through
which students can enjoy a formal concert performed by the HKPO. It complements
our Schools Concerts and Ensemble Visits. Free of charge, you will be able to
bring your students to one concert, chosen especially for you. An introductory
teaching kit will help prepare your students for an enriching orchestral
experience. Each selected school will have the chance to attend one concert.
Seating goes quickly – enrol now!
Step
7 Act Now! Simply send us back the booking form for your school on or
before Friday, 30 September 2011 and prepare for a wonderful
musical journey paved for you by the HKPO. The completed booking form can be
