The “HSBC Creative Notes” project is a brand new music-in-education programme funded by the Hongkong Bank Foundation. It will bring music appreciation to the students through 13 Student Concerts, 26 Ensemble Visits to schools, 15 instrumental master classes plus “Music Smart” educational toolkit.

Part I
13 Student Concerts will be held on 5, 12, 13 & 14 December 2007. Mr Jason Lai will conduct these hour-long concerts of great enjoyment and entertainment individually. Come and enjoy this interactive programme performed by the full orchestra!

Part II
26 Ensemble Visits to schools on school days will be held from December 2007 to May 2008. The hour-long performances by the ensembles formed by the Hong Kong Philharmonic musicians include selections of light classics, entertaining introductions and demonstrations of instruments. Students can learn to appreciate classical music, and become acquainted with various musical instruments.

Part III
15 Instrumental Master Classes will be organized this year. We will send our musicians as ambassadors to visit the instrument classes or orchestra of your school for one hour and give inspiring insights and valuable opinions to students on playing instruments. This one-off coaching session is especially designed for students who have had a few years of instrument playing experience and who want to achieve a higher standard.

Part IV
1 Chamber Music Concert is especially designed and organized for the students. 18 HKPO musicians will showcase different musical instruments and bring lively classical music pieces to 150 students during the Concert. This concert will be held at the HSBC Main Building on 10 November 2007.

Part V
The “Music Smart” educational toolkit, funded by HSBC Insurance, comprises an educational booklet and a CD which will be distributed to participating schools free of charge. Music teachers can use the materials to facilitate student’s participation more about in concerts and ensembles. We hope the students can better understand, appreciate and enjoy music.
