Part I 16 Student Concerts will
be held on 1, 2, 23, 24 March 2010 at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall and
on 17 March 2010 at Tsuen Wan Town Hall Auditorium. Mr. Perry So, Assistant
Conductor (Education and Community Programmes) of Hong Kong Philharmonic
Orchestra, will conduct and present these hour-long educational concerts of
great enjoyment and entertainment. Come and enjoy these interactive performances
by the full Orchestra! Please refer to the attached sheets for details of the
student concerts.
Part II The “Music Smart” educational toolkit will be
distributed to participating schools free of charge. Music teachers can use the
materials to further facilitate student’s participation in concerts and ensemble
visits. We hope the students can better understand, appreciate and enjoy music.
An introduction session was organized for principals and music
teachers on 12 February 2010 (Fri). Our Assistant Conductor Mr. Perry So gave a
brief introduction on the upcoming programme of student concerts and offered
some advice on how to use the “Music Smart” educational toolkit more
effectively. An online version of the “Music Smart” has been available with music
recording recommendations in 2010 summer so as to benefit more students.
Part III Ensemble Visits to
schools on school days will be held from March 2010 to June 2010. The hour-long
performances by ensembles formed by the musicians of Hong Kong Philharmonic
include selections of light classics, entertaining introductions and
demonstrations of instruments. Students will learn to appreciate classical
music, and become acquainted with various musical instruments.
Part IV 10 Instrumental Master
Classes will be organized this year. Students from different schools
have a chance to perform and exchange ideas with each other. Our musicians will
give inspiring insights and valuable opinions to students on playing
instruments. These coaching sessions are especially designed for students who
have had a few years of instrument playing experience and who want to achieve a
higher standard. The master classes are scheduled in April and May 2010.
