Symphony under the Stars ended on a High Note with Fireworks and Standing Ovation Nearly 20,000 enjoyed a free evening of Symphonic Music by the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra
The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra's first large-scale, free admission, open-air classical music concert was held at the Hung Hom Ferry Pier on 1 December 2006 with great success. Chinese conductor Lu Jia conducted HKPO in a programme of popular classics, such as Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Ravel's Bolero and Dvorak's Slavonic Dance. Violinist Lu Siqing was the soloist in the all-time Chinese classical favourite Butterfly Lovers Violin Concerto by He Zhan-hao and Chen Gang. The title sponsor of the event was Goldman Sachs.
