A native of Hong Kong, violinist Christine Wong is an active soloist and orchestral performer, with solo, chamber and orchestral appearances throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. She is the winner of numerous awards and competitions, such as the Sony E.S. Award for Musical Excellence, the Wurlitzer New York State Violin Competition, Mannes String Concerto Competition, All China Violin Competition and many top prizes in the Hong Kong Schools' Music Festivals. As the recipient of the Special Presentation Award and Outstanding Alumni Winners Award of the Artist International Competition (USA), she made her New York recital debut in Carnegie Hall's Weill Hall in December of 1997.
In 1990, Christine Wong received the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarship to pursue her violin studies with Aaron Rosand in the United States and to fulfil a Certificate Program at the Mannes College of Music (Preparatory Division). Two years later, she was accepted by The Juilliard School where she earned both her Bachelor's and Master's Degree of Music. During her Juilliard years, she studied violin with the School's Dean, Stephen Clapp, and with Joel Smirnoff, First Violinist with the Juilliard String Quartet; she also received many scholarships there, including the Jean Doyle Loomis Memorial Scholarship, Martin Kaltman Scholarship, Leonore Roman Scholarship and the C.V. Starr Scholarship. She has attended and performed at the Interlochen Music Camp in Michigan, Aberdeen International Youth Festival in Scotland and in masterclasses in Luxembourg and Nice, France.
Before Christine Wong left to continue her studies in the United States, she was a student of Julia Hsiao at the Hong Kong Academy for the Performing Arts. She has given recitals at the Hong Kong City Hall Theatre and Shatin Town Hall, and solo performances at the Tsuen Wan Town Hall and Tuen Mun Town Hall. In 1996, she was featured in Platform for Young Music Makers, a series for local musicians presented by RTHK Radio 4.
She has been a member of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra since 1998.
