Hong Kong, 23rd March 2009 - The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra today announced the appointment of Paul Tam to the position of Director of Marketing.
Until 2003, Paul Tam was the Orchestra’s Assistant General Manager (Concerts Marketing and Public Relations) for 6 years before taking up a prestigious Vilar Fellowship in Arts Administration at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC under the direction of the legendary arts administration guru Michael Kaiser.
"I am so delighted to welcome Paul back to the Hong Kong Philharmonic family," said HKPO Chief Executive Timothy Calnin, announcing the appointment. "His profound knowledge of Hong Kong, the Orchestra and music in general make him the ideal person to lead the Hong Kong Philharmonic's marketing team to build on the tremendous growth in audience and profile over the last five years."
In spite of the tough economic climate, the Hong Kong Philharmonic has been able to sustain paid attendance at an average of 80% so far this season, and has tripled subscriber numbers since 2004. Details of the Hong Kong Philharmonic’s 2009/10 season will be unveiled in late May.
