Min Lee, violin

“Her playing style was exceptionally clean and firmly grounded in solid technical foundation”

--- Business Times

Min Lee gave her first public performance at five. She enrolled in the Master’s programme at Yale University at 14 years old and graduated in 2000. She has performed with many of top orchestras, including Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony Orchestra, Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, San Diego Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonia Orchestra, under the baton of renowned conductors, such as Charles Dutoit, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Peter Oundjian, Mikhail Pletnev and Jahja Ling. She recorded a CD of Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev’s Violin Concerti with the Philharmonia Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy and it was released by the Universal Music.

Hannu Lintu, conductor

“Hannu’s ability to conjure up magical colours and sounds from the orchestra was astounding.”

--- Berliner Morgenpost

Currently Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Hannu Lintu was Artistic Director of the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra and the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. He is a regular guest conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony and Avanti! Chamber orchestras. In September 2009 he was appointed as Principal Guest Conductor of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin from September 2010. In 1994 he won first prize at the Nordic Conducting Competition in Bergen. He has conducted at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and at the Grant Park Festival in Chicago and with many orchestras, including the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Orchestre National de Belgique, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Washington’s National Symphony Orchestra and Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Programme
In her native Singapore The Arts magazine wrote that Min Lee’s “technical authority and unadorned style makes for fresh listening”, and critics the world over have marvelled at her grace and sensitive musicianship. Here she is joined in the greatest of all Finnish violin concertos by the Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu. A celebratory work written for the London Proms by another Finn provides the link through its festive Spanish title with the rest of the programme celebrating the colour, vitality and exuberance of Spain.
