What's in the programme? Experience a powerful live performance of close to 20 selections from Academy Awards-winning or nominated classics such as Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Titanic, Chicago, Gladiator, and Mulan. Also in the programme are excerpts from Disney Classics and a tribute to John Williams, one of the foremost film music composers of our time.
Who is Erich Kunzel? Conductor since 1977 of Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, one of the world's most accomplished classical pops ensembles, Erich Kunzel's accomplishments are almost too numerous to list. Hailed as the "Prince of Pops" by the Chicago Tribune, Kunzel's credits include: 4 consecutive years as Billboard Magazine's Classical Crossover Artist of the Year; 83 Pops recordings on the Telarc label, 55 of which have appeared on either the Classical Crossover or Classical Billboard charts, one earned a Grammy Award, five received Grammy nominations, and one other was awarded France's Grand Prix du Disque; appearances in numerous televised specials, national, and international concerts including more than 100 performances with the Chicago Symphony at the renowned Ravinia Festival, where he holds the record for attendance of 22,000; led the National Symphony of the United States in PBS-TV's nationally televised Fourth of July concerts since 1991; in 1996, the concert drew a record crowd of nearly a million live audiences, as well as the largest viewing audience for a musical event in PBS history; More than 100 performances with the Boston Pops; 10 Carnegie Hall concerts; as well as performances with the San Francisco Opera, Vienna Volksopera, and the Super World Orchestra, to name but a few.

ABOUT THE HONG KONG PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra is rapidly emerging as Asia's leading orchestra, since internationally renowned Edo de Waart joined as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor in the 2004/05 Season. Throughout the last three decades, the Orchestra has grown into a formidable ensemble of Chinese and international talents, attracting world-class artists to perform on the same stage. It gives over a hundred performances annually, many of which are highly anticipated events in the city's cultural calendar.
